What Shyrm does not collect

Shyrm does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs.

Location

Your GPS coordinates are sent to the Shyrm server (api.shyrm.app) solely to retrieve precipitation data for your location. Coordinates are not logged, not stored, and not shared with any third party. The server is hosted in Germany (Hetzner Cloud, Frankfurt).

Push notifications

If you enable rain alerts, your APNs device token and location coordinates are stored on the Shyrm server to deliver notifications. This data is used exclusively for sending rain alerts and is deleted immediately when you disable alerts. No other data is stored.

Data sources

Precipitation data is sourced from:

• DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst) — German radar and forecast data, open data
• EUMETNET OPERA via MeteoGate — Pan-European radar composite, CC BY 4.0
• Bright Sky — Open-source DWD forecast API
• Open-Meteo — Open-source NWP forecast API

Your location is never sent directly to any of these services. All requests are proxied through api.shyrm.app.

Apple Intelligence

On supported devices (iOS 26+), Shyrm can generate a plain-language rain summary using Apple Intelligence. This processing happens entirely on your device. No data is sent to Apple or any other server for this feature.
